Monthly Must-Haves

Hi everyone! As the month officially comes to an end, I thought it'd be fun to show you guys some of the items/products I really enjoyed throughout the month. You'll most likely see a common pattern in the items - mainly that they all relate to self-care and wellness in some way. With spending a huge chunk of the month at home, it gave me tons of time to sit back and show myself some serious self-love!

First up = Candles. I absolutely love burning candles in my room for multiple reasons. Not only do they of course, smell amazing, but they also bring such a relaxing essence to the room. The candles sold at Indigo are my favourite! Not only are they adorable as decorations, but the scents are so fresh and delicious. The three I've been burning like crazy are Indigo's Bright Poppy candle, Mediterranean Sea Salt candle, and the Melon Blossom candle.

I've been loving the "Peach Bands" resistance bands this month for quick, at-home workouts. They come in a pack of four that have different tensions including light, medium, heavy and extra-heavy. They've been a life saver for lower body workouts targeting the booty and legs! Going hand-in-hand with my at-home workouts is my water bottle. I have to admit, I'm picky when it comes to water bottles. However, this Takeya water bottle passes the test. I absolutely love that it has a pop-up straw - because who doesn't love drinking from a straw instead of an open lid? It also has a little handle, which makes it super convenient to carry around throughout the day. It holds 24 ounces of water, so I try to drink 4-5 of these a day. Call me crazy, but I swear - having a water bottle that you actually LIKE definitely helps you consume your daily water intake!

On the reoccurring topic of self-care this month, I loved pampering myself with face masks. What better way to show yourself some self-love than running a warm bath, and putting on your favourite face mask? I'm sharing three different masks that I've been reaching for. I'm typically not a huge fan of peel-off masks because I find they tend to dry out my skin - which is naturally, already on the dry side. However, the Hemp+ Peel-Off face mask is made with hemp seed oil and rosehip oil which does a great job at moisturizing my skin, while still cleansing my pores. The Sephora Green Tea face mask is perfect for those of you who love a good sheet mask. The green tea extract in it reduces redness and imperfections on the skin. The Olay Overnight Gel Mask is my holy grail face mask. For those of you with dry skin - you need to give it a try! I apply it on my clean skin before bed, and keep it on throughout the night. I wake up to my skin feeling so hydrated and moisturized with a beautiful glow to it. The vitamin E infused in this mask definitely works wonders.

My night-time ritual consists of tons of reading and journalling. If you're looking for a good book to read "Self-Care for the Real World" by Nadia Narain & Katia Narain Phillips is amazing - and Reese Witherspoon agrees with me on that! She reviewed the book by saying it truly is a manual for everyone based around real health, from the inside out. It includes helpful advice on every self-care topic from relationships, to food & recipes, to travel, to confidence and so much more. Reading a few pages of this before bed every night puts me in a good head space. Journalling has also been important to me within the past month. Indigo's "The Story of My Life" journal has been super fun for me. It includes a different prompt/exercise on every page that is ready to be filled in. So for example, one page is dedicated to writing about your childhood best friend, while another page prompts you to write about the scariest thing you ever had to go through, and the next page may be describing your very first job! It's set up in a sequence that goes from your childhood, to young adulthood, to adulthood and reflection. I think it will be a super cool journal to look back on years down the road! As I wind down and read at night, my pillow mist is a must. This "Comfort" pillow mist may be up there for one of my favourite scents - ever. It's made up of natural essential oils with hints of vanilla and patchouli. The vanilla is said to calm the mind to encourage relaxation, while the patchouli creates a sense of harmony. Spraying it on my pillow (and maybe all over the rest of my room...) is the best!

That's it for my monthly must-haves! Hope you guys enjoyed it.

Thanks for reading,

-Miss Maddie
